Where do I even begin? This trip to the 75th Annual Sturgis SD Motorcycle Rally was so much more than the events in Sturgis. In fact, we didn’t even get to Sturgis until our last day in South Dakota. Car or motorcycle, this part of the United States is a must see. But I do have to say, on the back of my love’s motorcycle was, by far, the BEST experience of my life. It heightened all my senses and brought us even closer (hard to believe I know!) together as a couple.
While we were on vacation we saw several interesting places. Too many to put all in one blog post so below is the summary of our trip and if you click on each destination (as I create it) it will go further in to detail of those destinations and our wanderings at each of them. I hope you enjoy it even a fraction of what we did!
Devils Tower, Wyoming
Held sacred by Native American tribes, this climbable rock formation is the first national monument.
Deadwood, SD
Known for it’s dead trees and Wild Bill Hickock’s assassination
Lead, SD
We stayed here at Terry Peak Ski Area.
Hill City, SD
Population is 943 during a normal week but during the 75th Sturgis Motorcycle Rally it’s another story!
Custer State Park, SD
Wild life! Buffalo, donkeys, antelope and more…
Crazy Horse, SD
Located in the Black Hills of Southern South Dakota, when completed will be larger than Mount Rushmore. Was started in 1947.
Mount Rushmore, SD
Located near Keystone, South Dakota is a sculpture of Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln.
Badlands, SD
National park in South Dakota that protects 242,756 acres of sharply eroded buttes, pinnacles, and spires.
Wall, SD
Wall, South Dakota, offers travelers a chance to experience the traditional values of the west.
Sturgis, SD
Known for largest motorcycle rally. We were there for the 75th Annual Motorcycle Rally!
There you have it. A snapshot of the places we went while vacationing in South Dakota. As time permits, I will write more detail about each place and link to the individual posts.
Have you been South Dakota? Sturgis? What was your favorite part?
